Join us at Denver Ceramic Studio for a playful, hands-on pottery workshop where you’ll create your very own yarn bowl — complete with a one-of-a-kind face! In this guided class, you’ll learn foundational hand-building techniques to shape a functional yarn bowl designed to keep your yarn tidy and tangle-free while you knit or crochet. Then comes the fun part: sculpting personality! Add expressive eyes, goofy grins, sleepy smiles, or any character you can imagine. No prior clay experience is needed — beginners are welcome and encouraged. Our instructors will walk you through shaping, attaching features, carving a yarn guide, and adding surface details. You’ll also choose your glaze colors to bring your character to life. Whether you prefer whimsical, spooky, sweet, or silly, you’ll leave with a piece that’s both practical and full of charm. What to Expect Step-by-step instruction in hand-building techniques Guidance on sculpting facial features and functional yarn slots Glazing options to customize your piece A relaxed, creative atmosphere focused on fun Important Pickup Information Your creations will be ready for pickup approximately 2–3 weeks after the workshop date. You should receive a pickup email when they’re finished. If it gets caught in your filters, please stop by the studio after 4 weeks to check on your pots or send us an email. Any pottery left at the studio 6 weeks after the workshop date will be donated, so please be sure to pick up your work in time. Studio Policies YOU MUST SIGN YOUR POTTERY. The studio is not liable for lost pieces that are unsigned and mistakenly claimed by another student. Not all pieces are guaranteed to make it out of the kiln if instructions are not followed. Inconsistencies in thickness can cause cracks or even shattering during firing. That said — the goal is to have fun and get creative, so don’t stress! Come ready to play with clay and leave with a handmade yarn bowl that will make every stitch a little more joyful.
