FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Absolutely! Creating an inclusive creative environment for all is one of our core values. We offer pottery classes to potters of all levels!
We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or stained as clay and glaze can stain. We recommend keeping your jewelry or valuable accessories at home as clay could scratch or wear your jewelry down. Using an apron or pair of overalls is also recommended.
You do not need to purchase your tools. We have a wide selection of tools from a variety of companies available at our studio! If you choose to purchase your own tools you are more than welcome to bring them into the studio but please make sure you bring them home with you, we’d hate for them to go missing!
The class fee covers the cost of clay. We selected specific clays for handbuilding and throwing due to their unique qualities. Although you can use clay from other sources, we strictly prohibit the use of low-fire and air-dry clay due to the contamination of studio clay and the damage it causes to our kilns.
YES! Give the gift of pottery: Because sometimes the best memories start with clay, laughter, and a slightly awkward pottery wheel encounter!
Our classes and open studio time are open to currently registered students of our studio. We happily offer private and group lessons for those who wish to take classes with a friend or group.
When you register, we order supplies faster than a pottery wheel spins. We can provide a credit for another class or an item from our store.
We've got a fantastic selection of glazes right here in the studio! If you love a particular glaze, feel free to buy your own for your pottery stash. Just make sure it's Cone 6, food-safe, and non-toxic. Double-check with us before you buy to ensure it meets our studio requirements. And remember, no low-fire (cone 04) glazes allowed!
Handbuilding classes last four weeks and are two hours long. Wheel-throwing classes last 4 weeks and are two hours long.
Membership is best for people who have basic clay experience and can work independently. Absolute beginners should start with a class. After you complete our intro course (or equivalent experience), you’re welcome to join as a member.
Clay and glaze are included. Additionally you are welcome to use your own clay. Studio clay is Laguna BMX and Laguna Speckled Buff. Studio glazes and underglazes are included in your membership. Again you are welcome to use your own glazes. This studio glaze fires to cone 6 and offers Raku.
We believe creativity should flow freely, so there is no contract or minimum commitment required to join our pottery community.
Yes, we understand that life can get busy, so you can pause your membership for up to two months. This allows you to take a break without losing your membership benefits when you return. Cancellations are processed promptly, and you will retain studio access until the end of your billing period. Our goal is to support your creative journey while offering the convenience and respect of your time commitments.
No, the type of permit we have does not allow us to sell pottery from the studio.
