Service Description

So, you’ve survived the beginner’s wheel class without flinging clay into anyone’s face—congrats! Now it’s time to level up. In this 4-week course, we’ll stretch your skills and your clay budget. Week 1: Perfecting the Pull — Because 6" is Just the Beginning Say goodbye to squatty little mugs and hello to tall, proud cylinders that don’t scream “first day on the wheel.” You’ll stretch your skills (and your clay) to break the 6-inch barrier like a pottery overachiever. Prepare to feel powerful. Week 2: We bust out the 14” bats and dive into the ancient Korean Onggi technique, which is basically the pottery version of a gym workout. You’ll throw a base, add coils, and stack like you're building a tiny, muddy skyscraper. It's part wheel, part hand-building, all "wow, this is harder than it looks." Bonus: your arms are gonna look amazing. Week 3: We wield calipers like pros (or at least like people who sorta know which end is up) and stack cylinders with the precision of a caffeinated architect. It’s all about making sure your pieces actually fit together—because guessing is fun until your vase looks like a leaning tower of clay regrets. Stack 'em high, stack 'em proud, and pray to the kiln gods for stability. Week 4: Glaze Day! Your masterpieces are too big for brushing or dipping, so we’ll pour glazes like fancy pottery bartenders. Warning: Your forearms will get stronger. Your confidence may skyrocket. Your friends will ask if you can make them a vase. (You now can.) Class size is limited to just 6 participants for personalized instruction. All materials are included — just bring your favorite play clothes to get a little messy in! Additional Information: Your creations will be ready for pickup from the studio approximately 2-3 weeks from the workshop date. You should receive a pickup email when they're finished, but if it is eaten by filters, please come by the studio after 4 weeks to check on your pots or send us an email. Any pottery left at the studio 6 weeks after the workshop date will be donated, so please pick up your work in time! YOU MUST SIGN YOUR POTTERY. Denver Ceramic Studio is not liable for lost pieces that are unsigned and mistakenly claimed by another student. Not all pieces are guaranteed to make it out of the kiln if instructions are not followed. Inconsistencies in thickness can cause cracks or even shattering in the firing process. However, the goal is to just have fun, so don’t stress about it!
